Keep Duckie in your Prayers

Duckie is home from the hospital!

Duckie took a big step last Friday and underwent surgery to get spayed. In the process of her exam and surgery, the vet found a tumor bigger than a golf ball on her spleen, so that had to come out, too. The good news is that the surgery was successful and she is now home recuperating nicely. We also got confirmation that Duckie is now officially Heartworm negative and has continued to remain negative for two of the three tick illnesses she had. This is truly wonderful news!!

At the same time that we received this good news, there was very sad news as well. Duckie’s mammary tumors are far advanced, and we are not sure if another more invasive surgery will be good for her. The vet said that her situation is one of the worst that he has ever seen. We will be talking in the weeks and months to come about Duckie’s situation and determining whether we can or should do surgery or just make her as comfortable and happy as possible for as long as she is with us.

Please keep Duckie in your thoughts as she moves forward on her road to recovery, and consider making a donation – of any size – to help us provide the care and treatment that this little fighter deserves.
